Abstract
The effect of blending 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) in various proportions with isopropanol as co-blowing agent for polystyrene foaming was investigated using solubility data, on-line rheology measurements and extrusion foaming performance. The results are discussed in terms of the plasticisation, nucleation, expansion and stabilisation phases, and the interaction between the foaming agents. 19 refs.

Abstract
Commercial systems for microcellular injection moulding are reviewed. The design considerations for nozzle systems for microcellular foaming with supercritical carbon dioxide in injection moulding of polystyrene were investigated. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of pressure drop, weight reduction and injection speed, and recommendations for design modifications are made. 13 refs.

Abstract
The effects of surface treatment of the mould with poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) in the injection moulding of microcellular polypropylene and polycarbonate/ABS materials on surface finish were investigated by measuring surface roughness and gloss, and the foaming characteristics were studied by SEM. The results for treated and untreated surfaces are compared and discussed in terms of the insulating effects of the PEEK layer. 15 refs.
