Abstract
The synthesis of polyurethane foams by reacting poly(ethylene glycol-b-propylene glycol-b-ethylene glycol)s of different molecular weights with diphenylmethane diisocyanate or toluene diisocyanate in the presence of tin(II) 2-ethylhexanoate, dibutyltin dilaurate, triethylamine or N,N-dimethyl cyclohexylamine as catalyst, distilled water, sodium bicarbonate or acetone as blowing agent and polydimethylsiloxane as surfactant, and their characterisation by SEM, density and water absorption is described. The effects of starting materials, their concentrations, and reaction temperature on morphology, foam density and water absorption capacity of the products were investigated and the results are discussed. 20 refs.

Abstract
The fabrication of microcellular foams based on a commercial glass fibre-reinforced blend of polycarbonate (PC) and ABS via microcellular injection moulding using precision mould opening with a chemical blowing agent under various processing conditions, and their characterisation by SEM (fracture mechanism and morphology), tensile, impact and flexural testing, is described. The results were evaluated in comparison with those obtained for an unreinforced PC/ABS blend under the same conditions, and the effects of processing conditions and glass fibre reinforcement on cell morphology and mechanical properties are discussed. 22 refs.

Abstract
The synthesis of polyimide foams by thermal treatment of poly(ester-amine salt) precursors derived from 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride and 4,4'-oxydianiline as powders of different particle sizes was investigated with visualisation of the solid-state foaming process using optical microscopy. The effects of particle size and particle size distribution on bubble growth and foam morphology were studied and the results are discussed in terms of structure-property relationships. 12 refs.
