Abstract
This article describes the synthesis of a cryogenic epoxy adhesive for use in the bonding of semiconductor instruments, photodetectors and other optical instruments. In particular, an adhesive for the bonding of a bearing support of germanium to an optical plate. Apart from cryogenic properties, the adhesive must possess high strength, chemical resistance and resistance to direct pull. N,N'-(3,3^1-dimethoxy-4,4^1-diphenylmethane)imide of maleic acid was synthesised by the interaction of maleic anhydride with 3,3^1-dimethoxy-4,4^1-diphenyldiaminomethane and subsequent cyclisation of the obtained monoamide acid. The monoamide acid was used as a modifier for epoxy resin for the production of an adhesive composite. The resultant adhesive was capable of operating at temperatures ranging from +60 to -96 deg.C. 3 refs. (Article translated from Plasticheskie Massy, No.4, 2006, p.37-39)

Abstract
The colouring of leather as a finishing process is discussed, with reference to the use of heat resistant polymer coatings. In this article, the heat resistance of acrylic emulsion, stabilised with a monomer of 6-chloro-2-oxo-3-benzoxazolyl methyl methacrylate (6-Cl-BOMMA), obtained in the presence of redox initiators, was investigated. The kinetics of thermal degradation of the acrylic emulsion was studied by isothermal and thermogravimetric methods. It was shown that the copolymer of acrylic emulsion based on methyl methacrylate and a small content of 6-Cl-BOMMA possessed improved heat resistance compared with initial acrylic emulsion. 5 refs. Abstract
Polymer-colloid protective systems in the commercial form of latices are available as film-forming agents. These are beginning to be widely used in a new capacity in the form of casings which are directly formed on the surface of a food product. In this c

Abstract
It is currently thought that volume shrinkage of urea-formaldehyde resins (UFRs) during curing is due to the increased density of the urea polymer because of the emergence of a large number of new chemical bonds as a result of polycondensation. Such volum

Abstract
Comprehensive data are presented which indicate that features of the temperature behaviour of both an amorphous and a crystalline polymer are determined by the molecular motion of the main chain of the macromolecules, and that there are two types of process – relaxation and structural – at temperatures above the glass transition temperature. 105 refs. Abstract
The properties and applications are discussed of crosslinked PE foams. In order to produce foams with fine cellular structures and a high expansion ratio, it is necessary to improve the melt viscosity in the process of foaming polyethylene. This has been achieved by the use of chemical crosslinking methods and radiation crosslinking techniques. Details are given of continuous chemical crosslinking and radiation crosslinking methods. 14 refs. (Article translated from Plasticheskie Massy, No.5, 2006, p.26-28).

Abstract
A method is proposed for the prediction of the quality of welded nylon 610 joints produced by high frequency (HF) welding. The setting of the HF heating regime, which involves the electric field strength in the material and the duration of the welding cycle, is a complex task on account of the need to allow for heat removal by the material in to the near-seam zone and the electrodes of the working capacitor. In this work, an examination is made of a method for assessing the quality of welding that is based on analysis of the temperature distribution in the mass of the thermoplastic. A non-stationary heat conduction equation to describe the one-dimensional temperature field in the mass of the material with internal heat sources is given. 7 refs. Abstract
Reaction extrusion was used to produce chemically modified composite materials based on recycled nylon 6 blended with waste PETP, with the aid of a compatibiliser. Oxazolylbenzene, synthesised by a two-step scheme was used as the compatibiliser. The chemical modification of the polyamide/polyester blend during reaction extrusion led to the formation of macromolecules, having in their structure, fragments of heterochain polymers of different classes (the formation of block copolymers). The developed polymeric composite materials possessed increased mechanical properties, resistance to the action of impact loads at low weight, and reduced water absorption. The compatibilisation method is proposed as a means of recycling food packaging for the production of injection moulded articles. 14 refs. (Article translated from Plasticheskie Massy, No.5, 2006, p.46-49).

Abstract
An investigation is reported into fibrous cation-exchange materials (FCEMs) based on additionally modified profiled PP strands produced by polycondensation filling. The additional modification of the profiled PP strands was carried out by thermomechanical, chemical, UHF, and low-temperature cryotreatment. The PP strands had a changed cross-sectional geometry, differing from round-cross-section strands for better sorption properties. The FCEMs obtained were used for the purification of caprolactam-containing waste waters. 16 refs. (Article translated from Plasticheskie Massy, No.5, 2006, p.50-52).
