Abstract
The process of capillary penetration and matrix diffusion by plasticiser in poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC) of different porous structures is reviewed in terms of the formation of inhomogeneous ‘fish-eye' morphology. The effects on porosity of the use of monomer-soluble secondary emulsion stabilisers to prevent aggregation of globular PVC particles during suspension polymerisation are discussed in terms of morphological homogeneity and rate of penetration of plasticiser. 6 refs. Abstract
The curing characteristics of epoxy resins based on bisphenol A with polyethylenepolyamine as curing agent and various proportions of monoepoxy compounds containing acetylenic groups as modifiers was investigated by DTA, and the optimum amount of modifier was determined from the TG curve and estimated from the activation energy of decomposition. The effects of the modifiers on the physicomechanical properties of the epoxy resins were studied and the results are discussed in terms of additional crosslinking by the acetylenic bonds during the curing process. 10 refs. Abstract
Structural analysis of silane-siloxane block copolymers based on various proportions of poly(vinyltrimethylsilane)(PVTMS) and poly(dimethyl siloxane)(PDMS) was investigated using gas diffusion coefficients within the framework of Nilsen's model of transfer processes for filled systems in which the block copolymer is regarded as a microcomposite in which PDMS is the matrix and PVTMS is the filler. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of copolymer composition on permeability processes. 8 refs. (Article translated from Plasticheskie Massy, No.10, 2007, p.27-29)

Abstract
The processes of deformation and failure of commonly used thermosetting and thermosoftening plastics, including fluoroplastic, polycaprolactam, organic glass, Getinaks resin-dipped laminated plastic insulating material, and resin-dipped fabric laminate, under uniaxial elongation were investigated by acoustic emission techniques. The results are discussed in terms of determination of the onset of ductile cracking causing failure in brittle materials or of the forced elasticity limit in plastic materials together with the corresponding load. 9 refs. Abstract
The orientational elongation of silanol-crosslinked polyethylene films manufactured by reactive extrusion of low density polyethylene with various proportions of a commercial crosslinking agent based on vinyltrimethoxysilane and other modifying additives using a single-screw extruder was investigated by uniaxial elongation in the extrusion direction at a range of elevated temperatures. The effects of the degree of crosslinking, degree of orientation and gel content on the maximum elongation factor, birefringence and thermal shrinkage of the resulting films are discussed in terms of the formation of a continuous crosslinked structure during manufacture. 7 refs.
