Abstract
The effects of processing additives (fatty acid amide and monoglyceride) on the properties, including rheological properties and physicomechanical properties, of various rubber mixes and vulcanisates were investigated. Tests were carried out on various products, including a car tyre tread compound based on SBR and BR, insulation and hose rubbers based on blends of NR, polyisoprene and BR and oil-extended SBR, BR and polyisoprene, respectively, and mechanical products based on general-purpose and specialty rubbers. 7 refs. Abstract
The effect of filler content on the physicomechanical properties of rubber compounds based on a blend of SKI polyisoprene and SKD polybutadiene containing a combination of carbon blacks as filler was investigated using the dynamic indentation method and tensile testing at different temperatures and under different loading conditions. The results obtained demonstrated the high sensitivity of the dynamic indentation method to the effect of filler content on the properties of the rubbers and to changes in temperature. 6 refs. Abstract
The formulation and testing of rubber compounds based on peroxide-vulcanised SKEP-50 EPM for the manufacture of a seal for hot water pipes which meets the requirements of international standards for such seals are described. The design of the seal consist of two rubber elements (a ring element and a V-shaped element of different hardnesses) which are produced by covulcanisation. The rubber compounds are evaluated to determine their sealing ability and long-term service life and to ensure they meet public health requirements for materials in contact with drinking water. 8 refs. Abstract
A computer modelling procedure for developing effective vulcanisation regimes for profiled rubber products in an extruder is presented and demonstrated using a vulcanising mix based on silicone rubber. The rheological and vulcanisation characteristics of the rubber are reduced to corresponding mathematical models and non-isothermal models of flow are developed for plasticised mixtures in moulding heads with channels of round, rectangular and annular cross-sections. 5 refs. Abstract
A method for reconditioning the working wheels of centrifugal pumps and other working components of machines undergoing intense hydro- or gas- abrasive wear during service is described. It involves the use of a compression mould with an internal cavity corresponding to the initial shape and dimensions of the metal component being reconditioned and a green rubber mix, which is converted into an elastomer composite possessing the required physicomechanical properties upon vulcanisation. 4 refs. Abstract
The cost benefits and technical requirements relating to the production of regrooved tyres are discussed. Cost benefits are considered from the point of view of the lower cost of regooved tyres compared with the cost of new tyres, savings in fuel consumption and prevention of damage to the environment. The benefits gained from the regrooving of trolley bus tyres are demonstrated. (Article translated from Kauchuk I Rezina, No.3, 2007, p.32-35)

Abstract
The technical and economic grounds for the restructuring of cord dipping and heat treatment processes in a tyre plant producing 50 million sq.m. of cord per annum are considered and an integral cost benefit of 830.1 million roubles achievable through restructuring is demonstrated. Tables showing calculations of annual income from sale of products, expenditure on gas, compressed air and cooling water and expenditure on materials (polyamide-6 cord, polyester cord and dipping composition) are included together with initial information for calculating cost benefits are included. 4 refs. Abstract
A latex produced by the emulsion copolymerisation of butadiene, butyl acrylate and methacrylamide for tyre cord dipping was modified with the product of interaction of a polyfunctional amine and formaldehyde and the effect of the product of interaction on the degree of swelling of films of the latex and the bond strength of dipped cord to rubber based on SKI-3 polyisoprene investigated. It was found that modification promoted covulcanisation of the latex with the rubber and an increase in rubber-to-cord bond strength. 3 refs. Abstract
A model describing the interaction of tungsten nanoparticles with a rubber matrix is proposed and verified using experimental data for tungsten/silicone rubber nanocomposites, which indicate that, when nanoparticles are introduced into the polymer matrix, an interphase layer with increased adhesion and possibly, with increased density, is formed on the surface of the nanoparticles. 11 refs. Abstract
A mathematical model for determining the molec.wt. characteristics of polydimethylsiloxanes with different end groups on the basis of the index of the dynamic viscosity is proposed and applied to three different polydimethylsiloxanes with different dynamic viscosities. A comparison of the coefficients of the equation for the polydimethylsiloxanes shows that their value is influenced considerably by the end group. 3 refs. Abstract
Polypropylene oxide rubber was mixed with various amounts of PTFE and the physicomechanical properties of the resulting blends investigated down to temperatures as low as -50 degrees C. The best combination of mechanical properties was achieved with blends containing 20 pbw polytetrafluoroethylene. The blends were recommended for use as cold-, oil- and wear- resistant materials for seals operating under extreme climatic conditions. 9 refs. Abstract
The rheological approach was employed to assess the molecular structure of SKMS-30ARKM-15 butadiene-methylstyrene rubber containing various amounts of silica filler. Spectra of the pressure relaxation times of the molten rubbers were obtained and pressure relaxation curves of the melts determined using a capillary viscometer. The effects of filler content on network chain density was examined and the dependence of viscosity on shear rate demonstrated. 6 refs. (Article translated from Kauchuk I Rezina, No.4, 2007, p.11-14)

Abstract
An investigation was carried out to establish the parameters of indentation (weight, preimpact velocity, and radius of indentor) for testing thin rubber products, such as gaskets and seals. Using the data obtained, a nomogram for selecting the necessary parameters of dynamic indentation was constructed. (Article translated from Kauchuk I Rezina, No.4, 2007, p.14-17)
