Abstract
Chemically activated aramid fibre (Sulfron 3001) was incorporated into a passenger car tyre tread compound based on SBR and BR and filled with carbon black. The effects of Sulfron 3001 on filler-filler interaction (Payne effect), processing characteristics and dynamic properties of the tyre tread compounds were investigated and its potential for improving hysteresis without compromising other properties demonstrated. 11 refs. Abstract
Composites were prepared from a PS-b-polybutadiene-b-PS thermoplastic elastomer and the unextracted component (CS) from fullerene production and their properties investigated. The surface of the CS was characterised by field emission scanning electron microscopy and the tensile properties, thermal properties and dynamic mechanical properties of the composites investigated by tensile testing, DSC and dynamic mechanical analysis. The results obtained indicated that CS reinforced the composites and improved heat age resistance. 13 refs. (Article translated from Nippon Gomu Kyokaishi, No.9, 2009, p.400-404)

Abstract
A systematic study is carried out into the heat-sensitive properties of aqueous solutions of ethylene oxide-propylene oxide copolymers and polyvinyl caprolactam and their possible temperature-controlled interaction with the phase interface using the electrokinetic sonic amplitude method. The formation of a nanorelief of the copolymer layer is demonstrated via atomic force microscopy and a method is proposed for the functionalisation and subsequent crosslinking of the heat-sensitive copolymers for forming stable polymer layers with controllable parameters at the phase interface. A method is also proposed for modifying the phase interface with filled polymers consisting of a heat-sensitive polymer and nanoparticles dispersed therein and the effectiveness of the method for producing filled polymer coatings for protecting pigments from UV radiation is shown. 30 refs.
