The compressive impact properties of a number of low density polyethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer based foams of different densities were investigated. Cushion curves for these materials derived from experimental data were compared with theoretical models including adiabatic and isothermal in terms of the evolution of the minima of the cushion curves as a function of foam thickness and falling height, and the deterioration in the impact behaviour of closed cell polyethylene foams after compressive creep periods is discussed. 23 refs.
